  1. They aren't harmful, but you will feel pain where the tattoos are because of the heavy metals in the ink under the skin.

  2. I get(not take)MRI's every six months due to the lesions on my brain that cause my seizures. Mechanical Resonance Imaging causes metals to become heated. This is why you must remove jewelry, glasses etc before you go in the tube. I have tattoos up and down both arms and am always warned about POSSIBLE heating. I have never  had a problem. Here's why. Quality tattoo inks are made of quality pigments and little else. Cheap tattoo inks contain LEAD. Most of these inks are made in Asia and are sold in Tattoo kits like you can buy on Ebay.Mythbusters didn't bust a myth they just didn't finish their research

  3. mri's are like a big magnet. if you got your tatoos in a quality tatoo parlor, with ink with a low metal content, you should be fine. But if you got your tatoos in a prison you wont. Since prison tatoos are illegal to do, prisoners use selfmade tatoo ink which is VERY high in metal. so  then the MRI will literally rip the tatoo out of your skin. but im guessing you dident get it in prison.

  4. No, tattoos are not a contraindication for MR and it's not something to remotely concern yourself with, with respect to high-field MR.

  5. Yes, they`re. Actually, tattoos are most likely be the not recovered old wounds. Appearantly, they`re colourful and wonderful. MRI is a very powerful light.Whenever they touched upon the tattoos mean you`ll get hurt.

    This is my personal opinion.

  6. The myth is that the ink has some metal in it that is supposed to heat up.

However, the Mythbusters, on Discovery Channel, busted this myth. Scottie, one of the cast, has tattoos but the MRI didn't do anything bad to her and the tattoos felt normal. If I remember correctly, they also placed half-a-cup of tattoo ink in the MRI and the MRI didn't affect the ink's nominal temperature.
