  1. No they can't. They just tell you that to scare you.

  2. In my school, teachers (I am one) can certainly look at students' records, but the reason is to understand students better so we can help them. At times, gossip can happen, as it can in any group of people, but most teachers teach because they love the kids and want to help them.

Most adults do not communicate with notes! We talk to each other, which is much, much better than notes or email.

  3. they have there own little secret teacher organization (STO)where they plot to take over students lives!!! im serious, there after you!

  4. As a teacher for over 30 years, I must say, Yes we do. We talk about the students amongst ourselves , We mention the smart students, the trouble makers, the shy ones and others. We look at the records, We have to. That's where we write in the grades every year.

We talk during our lunch time. I must say, however, that we do it to try to help each other, not to be mean. We really want the students to be successful.

  5. If teachers need to, yes, we can.  It's not like we get our jollies out of going through your files or anything, but there may be things we need to know.  For example - if you have difficulties in a certain subject area, we will look back through your file to see what's been done to help you, what's worked, what hasn't, etc.  If you've been through a traumatic event that affected your schoolwork, we need to know about it in order to help you if something arises out of it during the current year.  If you've had behavioral problems during the past, we need to know in order to help you and to make sure that the class doesn't get disrupted.

Trust me - we have more than enough work to do, we don't just look through your files for fun.  However, if we're going to teach you successfully, we need to know where you're coming from - and a lot of that info is there in your file.

  6. they can loook at your academic records (counselors keep files in their offices of your grades and teachers reports) and anything in it, but as for your character traits, i don't think so.

if you stay at the same school for many years, teachers may tell other teachers in the same school about you. but going on from elementary, to middle school, to high school....it is unlikely that teachers will pass things on.

    no worries!
