Can teeth go back up into the gums?

My son was cutting 2 teeth on top a couple weeks ago. I could see them in the gum and he was fussing like normal for teething. I looked in his mouth to see how they were coming and they are GONE! I don't know if this is something to be concerned about or not. He isn't fussing anymore like they are bothering him.. Help?

  1. It's normal. My son had it happen too. I could see and feel two teeth coming and now I see nothing. His poor gums were so swollen he had developed an ear infection from it. I am glad he feels better but I wish we could just get it over with.

  2. Unfortunately this does happen, quite often with babies teeth

  3. Completely normal! Some days I'd feel teeth, some days I'd wonder where on earth they'd gone. I think it's normal until they actually break through the skin significantly. After that, I didn't notice them doing that anymore.

  4. It's common ... they'll be back.

  5. i havent seen it for myself , but a neighbor have a son that is a month older than my son and his kept going back into his gums . i think she said it would do it twice then , pop , there they was . so yes it's normal

  6. Yup, about a month ago, I saw my son's teeth coming.  I thought for sure the next morning he would have two upper teeth... But there was nothing.  No swelling, no teeth, no signs of teething, nothing.

Now, he's shows signs again, I see the white spots on the gums... I'm hoping they will decide to pop thru this time! :)

  7. Lol I wish I had an answer for you, but the same thing happened to my daughter a few months ago. But now they're back and have cut through. So I have no idea, but it was pretty weird.
