Can the 3rd edition of catan's 5-6 player expansion be used with 4th edition of the settlers of catan?

The only real issue would be if the card-backs changed from the 3d edition to the 4th edition -- since that would make it somewhat easier to recognize or discern what some development cards are.

Looking over the forums on BoardGameGeek.com, no one has mentioned an incompatibility from the 3d edition to the 4th edition, so I presume the only changes were the hexes and the box.  If there were a major compatibility issue with the cards, extra decks of resource cards can be obtained from Mayfair.
