Can the Canon hv30 be used in Sony vegas

well sony vegas 8.0 be able to hold hv30 because my when i put my clips from my other camcorder that is not in HD can freeze my sony vegas and i have a laptop pc?

  1. Video from the HV-30 will work just dandy in Vegas 8. I own an HV-10, among other camcorders, and have made numerous videos, DVDs, and Blu-Rays using Vegas 8 and HDV sources.

    You should probably try to find out what the problem is with Vegas and your other camcorder. Vegas handles a few formats (MPEG, DV) internally, and uses Windows multimedia subsystems (Video for Windows, DirectShow) to handle most other formats. Because of this, if you have an odd camcorder (something using MPEG-4, for instance), you may have a problematic video CODEC that's messing up, causing Vegas to freeze. Vegas is also not terrible tolerant of errors in the video stream.. if you have errors, that can cause weirdness, like lockups or crashes.

    There may be other causes... random weirdness is sometimes fixed by re-installing Vegas.
