  1. No They can't and the Cubs Win today and The Cards are playing the Phils Tonight, so big Disadvantage.

  2. leave it to the cubs fans to say no! The Cardinals got Carpenter back and when they get Wainwright back they will have just as good of a 1-2 as the Cubs. Harden is too injury prone and will never go past the 6th inning. I don't see the Cardinals going away. Cubs fans get over it! The Cubs won't get passed the first round. Webb Haren Johnson will sweep them!

  3. It's certainly possible, but I don't think they will.  The Cardinals will fight the Brewers for Wild Card.

  4. heck yea

  5. Anything's possible.  I'd feel a whole lot better about their chances if they had done something to improve their bulllpen before the trade deadline.  Ryan Franklin, Ron Villone, and Jason Isringhausen don't inspire a lot of late-inning confidence during an August/September playoff drive.

  6. Not a Chance. They will be lucky to stay within 5 games of 2nd place.

The only reason they are as close as they are right now is that Dave Duncan is a genius of a pitching coach. I know the Cards went 6-7 with Pujols on the DL. The Cubs went 25-22 with Soriano on the DL. The Cubs are 41-23 with Soriano. And most of that is Pre Harden which will only help. Also it looks like Ankiel is also beginning to reap the benifits of the steroids he ordered over the internet. The abdominal strain is a direct effect of that. And all the Cards who were having career years are beginning to come back to reality a little bit.

  7. If and only if the Cubs don't get better on the road long term down the stretch. Otherwise I don't think they can while the Cubs are healthy.

  8. Sure, anything is possible, that's why they play the games.  Anything can happen in 2 months.  Do I think they'll take the Cubs?  Not a chance, but that's my opinion.  They'll keep up with the Brewers though and battle for that wild card spot.

  9. They definaitely can but I wouldnt expect them to for the simple fact that the Cubs are a better team.

The Cardinals are a great team, especially if Chris Carpenter comes back to be the Ace he can be and Wainright comes back to the rotation....maybe even better than the Brewers because I like the Cardinals offense better than the Brewer's. I would expect the Cardinals to make a run at the Cubs but to no avail. (wouldnt really expect them to get within 3 games for the rest of the year) I do however expect them to battle it out with the Brewers for the Wildcard. It will be interesting to see what the Cardinals can do against the Cubs in the upcoming series.

And it will deifnitely be interesting down the stretch because I believe the Cardinals are here to stay.

  10. the due who said heck  yeh is a moron! h**l no!!

  11. And the Brewers? No way.

  12. I think the Cards will make the playoffs, but as a wild card team. Their batting is #6 in the league right now. Their pitching is ranked #16, as far as ERA goes. But getting Wainwright back, and Carpenter is now back, they will be improving greatly on pitching. The Cubs have a lot of talent this year, but the Cards will be right behind them and get the wild card spot.
