Question:

Can the Cats do it again this year?

The Cats have once again proven they can beat the best teams, and convincingly. But with the Hawks and Bulldogs snapping at our heels do you thing we can hold them off in the finals? Collingwood also seem to lift every time they play us.

PS. No, I didn't just come out of the woodwork last year, I've been a long-suffering Cats supporter for years. Glory years ahead I hope.

  1. yep, and they'll beat the bulldogs in the grandfinal. im looking forward to seeing ur mob thrashing the hawks in a few weeks, and seeing Scarlett shutting down Franklin. should be good fun

  2. they can but i want hawthorn to win it this year

  3. I think the cats are better then they were last year. They have had a sniff of premiership glory and wont more. I think there main opposition will be the western bulldogs, not the hawks

  4. i think they have the up msot chance to win again cause they have a team that has so much stamina and have had last years experience

  5. A long way to go yet. The finals start on Sept.5, that's when we can ask this question. Finals are different footy. Dedicated sides win. The most dedicated sides I see are Footscray, Geelong, and Collingwood. Collingwood has it all to do to get in the Top 4, so I must rule my team out. Dogs and Cats in a rumble. Won't get any better than that, and I like the fight in the Dogs.

  6. Being a Doggies supporter I hope not!

The Cats haven't yet beaten the best teams, as they haven't played Bulldogs and Hawks, their main contenders for the Premiership. There's no reason why they can't win back-to-back though, I just hope they don't :)

  7. bloody oath we can

  8. Yes, I think they can easily do it again, but the finals series should be interesting with teams like the Bulldogs and Hawks becoming real contenders for the premiership. I would like to see the Dogs win, but I think the Cats will make it back to back.

  9. The question was 'can they'?  Well of course they can.  But will they?  Main threats:

Dogs because of the hunger.  No they don't have the pace to make the Cats look slow as someone else suggested but they're hungry little puppies - that's obvious.

Hawks because of Buddy.  And I'd be amazed if Scarlett picks up Franklin (as someone else said).  Scarlo will pick up Butthead or whatever his name is at FB.  I reckon Milburn and perhaps Harley will double team Franklin but the main emphasis will be to stop the ball coming his way!  Perhaps Taylor might even get a run on him or even bring back Cam Mooney to put a bit of muscle into the contest.

  10. nah lots of afl teams have improved from last year a top 4 side will knock them out trust me i Noe for me if not Carlton then its bulldogs

  11. There is absolutely no doubt that the Cats are the best team in the league right now, but footy is a funny game and funny things happen particularly come finals time.

The Cats need only to have one off day on the last day in September and they will find themselves runners up, the best team doesn't always win the flag.

I think the Bulldogs are Geelong's main threat because they have genuine pace all over the ground and can really run a muck on a big open MCG. The hawks still lack serious pace, Cyril Rioli has made a difference but look at the Dogs, Aka, Cooney, Griffin, Cross, Boyd, Gia, they have plenty of runners as opposed to Hawthorn with Mitchell, Hodge and the like who are good players but very one paced.

In reality though I think the only thing that can stop the Cats from taking the lot is injury...

  12. I reckon they can....Geelong is going great this year...and I'm not a footy fan but im pretty surprised with their improvement :)

  13. **I think that there is very chance that Geelong can do it again, they certainly have the team to do it and the drive, all depends on whether they can be stopped.

There is still a long way to go in terms of the Grand Final and anything can happen between now and then.  Geelong have seemed to have stepped up since Collingwood beat them and appear to be playing the same kind of footy that won them the Grand Final last year.**

  14. yes they are playing exellent footy, like every team should play. they have beaten some of the best teams but they also came very close to being beaten by freo ending up 1 point infront. not taking anything away from there playing ability but come on its freo.

(i know wce lost to freo but where having a poor year, one down year is fine, if the next 5 years we will be up there)

  15. Yes, the Cats can do it again. They still have the cattle.

  16. im not a cats supporter.but the way they are playing, chances are excellent good coaching and good playing,go cats go.

  17. Yes.

    =)

  18. aslong as hawthorn dont coz i made a bet wit sum mates n they can kick me in the balls n il giv em $300 each and as collingwood dont look nearly as good as geelong, im hoping geelong wins the flag (after collingwood of course but realisticly geelong r my best hope of not havin hawks win it)
