Can the FS-4 Pro capture from the PD-150 WITHOUT capturing to tape?

or is the FS-3 better?

As a matter of fact i have been unable to understand the real difference between the two?

The DSR PD-150 has a dot with the FS-4 and note 4 which says, "Requires a tape in the camera to trigger FS recordings". So when you hit record, both will capture. No tape, nothing captured - not even in the FS-4.

Whether the FS-3 is "better" does not enter the equation. The compatibility charts puts the FS4 with the PD150... the FS3 needs Anton/Bauer batteries for mounting - and the PD150 does not use them.

That said, contact Firestore and ask them. Whether I say it will work or not does not matter - but what Firestore says will work better work - because they need to support it.
