Don't be so naive. Haven't you heard EVERYONE talk about how much people like George Bush and d**k Cheney profited from the Iraq War? These guys own tons of stock in oil companies, security/defense companies, etc. Of course they can.

Yes, the holdings are in a blind trust. The Pres, or any one else related to those assets have no idea what the trust is holding. This is to eliminate potential conflicts of interests.
