I now that the current royal family has German ancestry, but that it through Victoria’s husband. So can the queen trace her ancestry back to William either trough her matrilineal or patrilineal line

  1. no.

princess diana had more english royal blood in her than any of todays royal family.

  2. Certainly.  Keep in mind that there is so much crossover in the lines (read: inbreeding) that Elizabeth (or Victoria, if that's specifically who you're asking about) can trace her ancestry to just about any royal figure from European history.

Here's just one lineage, and certainly not the only one:

Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor II (1926- )

King George Albert Windsor VI (1895-1952)

    King George Windsor V (1865-1936)

    King Edward Wettin VII (1841-1910)

    Queen Victoria Hanover (1819-1901)

    Prince Edward Augustus Hanover (1767-1820)

    King George Hanover III (1738-1820)

    Prince Frederick Louis Hanover (1707-1751)

King George Augustus Hanover II (1683-1760)

King George Louis Hanover I (1660-1727)

    Countess Sophia Hanover (1630-1714)

    Princess Elizabeth Stuart (1596-1662)

    King James Stuart VI/I (1566-1625)

Mary Stuart I, Queen of Scots (1542-1587)

    King James Stuart V (1512-1542)

    Margaret Tudor (1489-1541)

    Elizabeth York (1466-1503)

    King Edward York IV (1442-1483)

    Duke Richard York (1411-1460)

    Earl Richard York (c.1375-1415)

    Duke Edmund York (1341-1402)

    King Edward Plantagenet III (1312-1377)

    King Edward Plantagenet II (1284-1327)

    King Edward Plantagenet I (1239-1307)

    King Henry Plantagenet III (1207-1272)

    King John Angevin (1167-1216)

    King Henry Angevin II (1133-1189)

    Empress Matilda Beauclerc (1102-1167)

    King Henry Beauclerc I (1068-1135)

King William "the Conqueror" I (1027-1087)

  3. No, the paternal line goes back to George I who was German

  4. William 1st was royal

    The Queen is royal

    Yes

  5. yes it is a direct linage

through both matriarchal and patriarchal lines

generally speaking the crown will follow a male with a large army

the German connection is from the Hanoverian kings basically the Georges for religious reasons

Queen Elizabeth II became Queen of the United Kingdom and Head of the Commonwealth on February 6, 1952. As of today she has reigned for 56 years, 4 months and 4 days . She is head of the British Royal Family, has 4 children and 8 grandchildren, and is 82 years, 1 month and 20 days old.

She is the 32nd great-granddaughter of King Alfred the Great who was the first effective King of England 871-899.

  6. I believe you can trace the family back but there are bumps along the way.  Something like Elizabeth 1 was never married nor had children so the Crown went to her cousin James IV of Scotland, then named James 1 of England.  Didn't Mary, Queen of Scots, Elizabeth's first cousin, try to take the Crown before she lost her head?

I believe the linage is there but it is not a direct linage.

  7. No, .the real monarch lives in Aussie.

  8. I doubt that she knows her fathers name - it all boils down to the regal stud farm xx?
