Can the SmartLink card be used for subway or just for PATH trains only? If so, where can I buy a blank one?

  1. Right now, Smartlink PATH is only accepted on PATH because there is fare difference.

    Blank card cost $5 and it is only available at WTC, Newark Penn Station, maybe Hoboken, Journal Sq with blue machine marked $5.

    When you want to add you PATH trip, go to PATH Vending Machine only and without take the card from your wallet, you just tap on Smartlink beeper.

    Also Smartlink Card never expires not like MTA MetroCard.

    If you put TRIPS or Unlimited PATH Ride, once days expire, or trip is gone, you could use same card over again.

    MTA's Lexington Avenue Line and few stations on some other line connecting to Lexington Avenue Line used different technology and only used by Chase or MasterCard holders only.
