I am applying for a non immigrant visa and i was arrested a couple of years ago for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I told the embassy that i was not arrested that i was warned and have no criminal record. I heard that they cannot check whether i am lying or not in their system. Is this true?

  1. #  I told the embassy that i was not arrested that i was warned and have no criminal record # just by saying that? you can be sure that the embassy will check your records,

    one should never lie......

  2. False.  It's their job to check your record.  The odds are you will be caught.  The penalty for lying (fraud) is a lifetime ban on travel to the United States.  The US State Department has reciprocal agreements with most nations to share information on criminal activity.

  3. Yes, they can find out if you  have a record, criminal or other wise.  This happened to me many yrs. ago and they found a minor incident that I had forgotten about.  I got my papers just the same.,it wasn't a major crime

  4. All US Embassies and Consulates have access to all your records. So yes, they will find out.
