  1. Of course they can make a run for it. Doesn't mean they'll get there.

Kind-a like the 'Tortoise and the Hare' routine. If the front-runner falls asleep those running behind have a chance of catching up and passing at the finish line.

  2. Absolutely!  They are only 3 games behind Boston and 4.5 games behind Tampa Bay, so it is clear that they are NOT out of this race, regardless of what Red Sox fans will have you believe.

With some of their injured players making a return in the near future, it is likely that the team will only get stronger from here - not weaker.

I predict a very interesting race to the finish!

    GO YANKEES!

  3. YOU BET THEY WILL

  4. Definitely...the Sox can't win on the road and Tampa is in uncharted waters right now...the Yanks are like the shark creeping up ready to attack!

  5. The Yankees play better ball down the stretch. They'll fight for the AL East because they expect no less.

In 2005, Shawn Chacon celebrated the Yankees' move into first place for the wild card. Jeter didn't join his jubilation and instead told him, "We don't play for the wild card here."

    That idea still stands.

  6. Yea ill agree anything can happen. But it lookslike the Rays are legit and will be contenders now. Andw ill keep getting better in time.

  7. I believe they need to pick up a solid starting pitcher to help carry them to the promise land but they are certainly one of the premier teams in MLB.

  8. nope

  9. Yes they are a more second half team so watch out

  10. Count on it. This is what they do this time of the year. Turn it on.

  11. yea and they will win it

  12. Sure they can make a run at the AL east title but the real question is will the team stay healthy enough to do so will the starting pitching and bullpen be solid down the stretch and also will the bats come alive or be dead wood??

  13. They are always in the race. It is just the matter of being better than where they are now.

  14. They sure can but its not going to be easy. There pitching is strong right now but can it last.

  15. Yes I think they can. I think that the AL East is going to be a fight til the end with the Rays, Yanks, and Sox. No one will be running away with this division. As a Yankee fan, I would love to see them win it but I know it will not be an easy task. Either way I see the person finishing second getting the Wild Card.

  16. Yes they can.   For the past 15 years, the Yankees always started off with a bad start in the first quarter of the season.  They then started to catch up and get in about third place (like they are now).  Like this season, they started off with being in last in the AL East, and they worked their way up to third.  I really think they have a good and fair chance of getting to at least second later in the season.  They're going to at least make the WildCard.

  17. Yes, without a doubt. I'm a Yankees fan, but I'm not going to make any predictions about them running away with it or anything. All I'm saying is that they are a second half team. Contrary to popular belief, they have gotten good pitching all year, their problem has been scoring runs. Now some guys that weren't producing in the first half are starting to hit well.

It's going to be an interesting race for the A.L. East.

  18. It appears so, paul. NY just swept the Athletics & r now closer 2 Boston than they r 2 Toronto in the standings. & I despise the B'Bombers but still know d**n well that this could take place. This is exactly the kind of action you'd c from the Yankees just after the All-Star Game so don't b surprised if they suck all the attention away from the Beijing Olympics by competing w/ the Rays, Red Sox, & Angels for the best winning record.

  19. First lets focus on the wild card and once we over take the wild card then we can start looking at the AL East.

  20. ya anything can happen we have alot more baseball to come our way

  21. Of course they can their just 4-1/2 games behind Tampa Bay and 3 games behind Boston with plenty of games left still.Plus Boston has lost 3 games and TB one lost while NY has a 3 gm winning streak. Also the Yankee's plays better during this time of the year.

  22. if richard joins them they can run anywhere they like

  23. u bet they will!!! especially with the way Boston and Tampa have been playing. i'm excited to see what this year has in store for the Yanks.

  24. They've certainly picked up the pace...but I still think they'll take the AL Wild Card.
