  1. no they can't don't worry about it, the drills r just playing mind games,

  2. No the money goes into the account as a direct deposit.  The DI's can't hold money from his check or stop the check from going into his account.

  3. No one can hold a paycheck for any reason unless the soldier is UA.  Even loss of pay can only be directed within the military legal system; if the NCO is holding the paychecks he is in violation of military regulations and should be reported and punished.  Since today is the14th I am guessing he threatened to do that, which was foolish as an empty threat means nothing, or said it joking and has been taken serious.  If he really a jerk he could tell the personnel to pick their checks up at 2359 tomorrow night but since they should all be on direct deposit he really cannot do a thing about when the checks/money goes in the bank.

  4. Yes commanders can do that, I'm not sure about DIs though. Withholding of pay is often a punishment of soldiers when something serious happens. I'm sure they did something really stupid. It may have meant to be motivation for the more mature people to get the fools in line. He also may have done something stupid but lied to you so he doesn't look bad.

  5. Ha!  The drill sergeant has absolutely no power over your husband's pay.

If he just got there, it's likely that DFAS hasn't made the required changes yet.  Hang in there.  If another payday goes by and you still haven't gotten your direct deposit, he needs to go to finance.

If you're running short on funds, you can go to the AER office and ask for help.  They'll help find out what the problem is and have loans available to bridge the gap until you get your money.

Alternatively, he may have accidentally chosen to only get paid once a month.  If that's the case, he just needs to change it to twice a month.  I doubt this is the situation, though.

Unfortunately, pay issues happen all.  of.  the.  time.  It's not personal, and while they care about hungry kids, it won't speed things up.  Finance does what they can, but if the deadline for the next payday is past, there's nothing they can do but apply those funds to the next one.

  6. No because the pay is issued actually on the 7th and sent to the banks.  The banks then deposit it into the accounts around the paytime.  As the 15th is Friday and that is tomorrow you can still see the pay in the account.

The drill sergeant can make the threat but he can't do it.

  7. That's a lie.  hate to tell ya.  The Drill Sargent cannot hold pay.  Your husband wants to take the money to the strip club and doesn't want you to know about it.  DFAS can hold money if there is an issue, legal or claims, and his command can sentence him to reduction in rate and half month's pay.  They cannot hold his check.  You are being lied to.

  8. Nope. they most deff cannot do that. but dont worry because sometimes they were late on my husbands too. I had a two yr old and was in the same position. If you are having a lot of financial trouble, go to your chaplain and they will help you with a relief fund.
