Can the art of Networking really help you?

According to a Harvard Study, we are separated by 6 degrees, meaning that we are all connected to one another between 6 people. The whole world is one linked "Social Network". My question is, whether success in life is all in who you know and the connections that you have? For instance, Bill Gates made billions on Microsoft, but in the end, he's still a Harvard dropout. It's apparent that he needed a bit of brains to create Microsoft, but he had to know a few people in the corporate world to help him get the product up and running. I'm just curious because I'm a current Harvard student, and lately I've been more focused on making life connections then making the Dean's List. So, is life all about who you know and the connections that you have?

  2. It is the only real secret of public success.

A complete twit who knows how to do it will succeed, while a shy brilliant person will go unrecognized.
