  1. not really. at one point they won't eat veggies, they are stubborn.

Crickets are essential and you can also feed mealworms.

Crickets are the only way he/she can get calcium. Because you cover the crickets in it.

    Sorry, best luck.

  2. once the bearded dragon gets a little bigger they have hard pellets that he will eat, just like a dog or cat would, he will most likely eat those and some freshveggies, but h**l stickk like a few crickets every day or every other day. some people also debate feeding the dragon pinkies (newborn mice). although i think that its un healthy, i think snames should stick to that. but go to your local pets store they should be able to answer mnost all of your questions, and theyshould have a small book about bearded dragons that will tell you jusr about everything! :)

  3. no, they need the protein that locusts, crickets and mealworms provide also.  There are not enough suppliments available to supply a veggie BD.

is it the live food that concerns you?

  4. How old is it? Baby bearded dragons usually will only it crickets. But as they get older they slowly start eating vegetables more. Most adults will only eat mostly vegetables. But the answer is yes they need protein.

  5. No they need crickets and worms also.

  6. We have had our bearded dragon for five years now and the only thing she eats is crickets.  She has gotten really big.  She does not like veggies and I don't dip the crickets in calcium.  All she eats is crickets, some water and a bright hot light on her.  She is doing great!!!!!!!!  I had another bearded before her and I gave her all the c**p the guy at the pet store told me to and he died within a year.  Did it different this time.

  7. NO they have to have protien..meat..in their diet...try worms and freeze dried crickets .. since the freeze dried crickets are dead and dony move you can buy a vibrating bowl from your local pet store specifically for this....Beardies usually hunt using their sight..so if its not moving they usually wont eat it.

Your mom really needs to get over her fear .. and yuo should have known they would need crickets before you brought it home....now that your a beardie owner..your priority should be your pets health....not your moms fear. You could always buy as many as you need daily but that gets pretty expensive ecspecially the way gas is these days...dont know where your from but gas is high everywhere!.....so talk to your mom and tell her that he NEEDS it and if she hates crickets so much it might be fun for her to watch the beardie eat them!!

  8. Uhhh veggies may seem ok to feed all the time, but you'll need calcium and protein, which vegetables lack, use commercial foods, pellets, freeze dried crickets or worms.

  9. They really need protein, especially when they are young when their diet should be about 75% feeder insects.  The pellet things that they sell at the store tend to not have enough nutrients and they will end up stunted if only fed that.  However, it doesn't have to be crickets.  There are other staples out there.  For young ones, you can also feed silkworms, phoenix worms, locusts, and roaches (lobster, dubias, and discoid roaches).

Once they are 16 inches long you can also introduce superworms and hornworms as staples.

you can buy them here:  http://mulberryfarms.com/

  10. bearded dragons need protein like us to build muscle or they'd be weak
