  1. I can take a bowtie seriously. I think its a great alternative to the tie....those are kinda boring! As long as you pull it off it would be great but everyday would be kinda excessive for that particular look.

  2. They really only work if you're going for cute/preppy or if you're under 15/over 65.

  3. Not many young people wear ties of any kind on a regular basis, let alone bow ties.  On one hand, it is definitely your choice to wear what you like.  On the other hand, it will definitely make you stand out if you wear it "daily" -- regardless of your age.

If I were you, I would definitely wear bow ties, but I would not wear them daily.  The main reason is I don't want "bow tie" to be the first (or the most common) thing people think about when they think about (or see) me.  I would rather they focus more on me (such as my personality, beliefs, conduct, and etc.) than on something I wear.

  4. I think you'd be better off with a regular straight tie for everyday wear.  If you dress up by all means wear a bowtie, but you will open yourself up for a lot of ridicule and anything from magician jokes to just downright mean things if you wear them daily

  5. I think they're cool. The only thing people will think is that it says something about your personality. If you like them, don't worry about it. If you're friends make fun of you, you need new friends... of coarse  unless they're completely joking.

  6. They're ok for certain dress occasions like black-tie dinners, but if you wear one routinely people will write you off as a hopeless geek. Especially at college. Sorry.

  7. I appreciate anyone that can be themselves despite what others think.

I think that is awesome, just wear them with confidence!!!

  8. if a guy wears it with confidence...it's extremely s**y.

  9. Bill Nye still rocks the bow tie.  Don't be afraid.

  10. Do it !  Never live your life or change for someone else (unless it's your children)....If you like bowties then wear them.  I think it takes a great deal of confidence to do so!

  11. No.  Please don't do that to yourself.  People may not say anything to your face...but they will be thinking it.

  12. If you want to be different, heckled and messed with a lot!

    like Steve Urkel!

  13. get one that spins and has flashing lights ,it will be an ice breaker

  14. oh my god i would find that hott!! i love men who wear them and im 23 so if your in your 20's  too i would think the world of you in your bow tie. wear it with pride sir... muah!

  15. I've asked this of people on occasion. From what I understand,  being totally honest, unofficial etiquette dictates that a man should  be forty-five or fifty years of age or older for a bow ties to set "right" with his look. Since you're a young guy, I'd go with a solid , bright color regular tie, with the rest of your clothing being subdued colors, like with jeans and a gray sport coat. The contrast is cool,  and the women love it!

  16. Give it a test run...wear it out to some occasion and see how you feel.  Confidence is the biggest attraction so wear what you want with pride!

  17. Since we're talking about years in the future, there's no way to predict what people's idea of fashion will be.  But if you avoid the silly red-white-and-blue look that people like Tucker Carlson used to affect, you should be OK.

  18. I think that's awesome.  Rock it with confidence, and you'll be fine- especially if you wear it with some Converse All Stars- that would be sweet.

  19. you will get called pee wee herman a lot...i wouldn't wanna hear that every day. oh and lewis farakan or however you spell it.

  20. At first, no, but if you have the type of unique character who can pull it off, go for it.  Maybe you can make that your signature mark.  Wear snazzy bowties during different days of the week.  If you are worried about drawing attention to yourself, you can wear a shirt and tie to class.  There are many unique ties out there.  A regular shirt and tie would show you are professional and get you a lot of respect.

  21. Don't do it.Whenever I see someone on t.v. in those things, you can't help but think,"nerd".Ties are great, they look professional, but please go with the regular ones. You may think the bow tie is different and will make you stand out,and it will, but not in the way you want it to.Sorry.

  22. Bit concerned because if you had the confidence enough to be 'different' I don't think you would have to ask this question. If you like the bowtie there is no reason why you shouldn't wear it (unless the college has certain rules as to code of dress) but you will have initially be able to take c*ap that will be thrown at you by many of your peers. However, it will be a nine day wonder and if this is seriously 'You' then eventually your individuality will be respected.

  23. to be honest i don't think bow ties are that smooth these days, but it's nice that you like them and i believe that you should wear what you want, like + feel comfortable in (: x
