Can the cooling fan connected to my lop top can cause some damage to my system?

i know everyone says that having a cooling fan cooling off your lop top is an excellent idea and everything,but having the cooling fan running for long period of time can this hurt your system especially when the cooling fan is connected to one of the usb ports

cooling can only be good for your system as computers tend to get really hot. without cooling your cpu would burn up within seconds.
