This is being used to treat a yeast infection, 3 dosages for 1 a week for three weeks. Dr ordered cbc and patient was on week 2 of this dosage when blood work was done. Sugar levels were elevated and was put on metphormine to reduce sugar level along with 2x daily self monitoring. Sugar levels are running high 250 - 375 after being on metphormine for 5 days and 45 to 1 hour walk exercising. daily.

Patient is on cholesterol med tricor 145 mg too.

  1. Absolutely it can raise the glucose levels!! If you will go to http://www.drugs.com and go to the individual drugs and read the .pdf on this you will see that one of the warnings is of increased glucose levels.

Metformin may not be enough to bring the glucose levels down.

Patient needs to go to very low carb food plan along with their exercise plan. It will help to keep the blood pressure from rising as well and to get the cholesterol to normal levels.

Very low carb food plan is about 100 to 120 grams of carbohydrate per day!!

But there are whole days when nothing works for me to keep the glucose levels in check.
