Can the institute increase tution fee during the term of the course?

i am doing B.Tech degree from a reputed institute. Our institute has increased the tuition fee by nearly 20% for us. I am presently in 2nd year. can somebody tell me if the institute can increase our fee .

of course they can.  This is the American way.  Just don't be shocked when their credits don't transfer to other schools.  They've got you, hook, line and sinker.

You are paying for their service, in this case a education.  Short answer, yes.  They can increase the cost to go to their school between terms.  Possibly during terms if it is written as such in their bylaws.  Check with your school to see for sure.  Ask to see the bylaws on tuition if necessary.

During the term? No, they can't, it wouldn't be possible anyway since everyone already paid their bills to enroll; however, the tuition can always increase a bit before the beginning of the school year (fall semester) i.e. 08-09 and then not until 09-10.
