Can the mail man let an apartment manager handle the mail as he puts it all in the boxes?

isnt that illegal,when she takes certain mail out & returns it to the sender,my mail is sent to my brother in laws apartment and his manager gets it from the mail man, can the mail man let her touch the mail,what can i do about this,can i in some way stop them from doing this,Legally?

  1. the mailman shouldn't be handing mail to anyone they need to be putting it in the boxes.  so you need to call the post office and advise them of the situation.

    Now it's only illegal to OPEN the mail not take it out of the mail box or have it returned to sender.


  2. You need to call and speak to your local postmaster. He will stop that.

    The reason the mailman probably does it though is because he's on a first name basis with the manager and its just how they do things.

    I personally do not want anyones mail, or residents thinking I've accepted their mail, so we only accept packages.  

  3. Your mail is being sent to an address at which you do not live.

    Since your name is not on the mailbox, the mailman probably wants to know where it should go, since you do not live there, the manager marks it return to sender.

    My mail man will not put mail addressed to anyone other than those listed on the mail box, under any circumstances. There have been a few times that he has asked me if "so and so" lives at this address. If they don't and I say no, he keeps the mail.
