Will we be able to use dimmer switches? Will full light spectrum bulbs be available for indoor plant light?

  1. Dimming ballasts must accompany the bulbs in order for dimmers to work. Indoor plants will die however.

  2. fluerescent lightbulbs cotain mercury which is non-reuseable and non-recycleable. im not quite there yet on NEED vs. LONGTERM CONSEQUENSES but in the long run, do what u gotta do

  3. TO grow plants indoors you will need to use those long (48 or 96 inch) tubes, the  old kind made specifically as grow lights.

Otherwise they seem to cover anything we have tried.

Dimmer designed bulbs are available, but we have added an extra switch to turn off some bulbs instead.

  4. No, and such dictatorial mandates are evil.

  5. No.  I intend to lay in a supply of regular bulbs because I need bright light to read.  I have fluorescent throughout the house, but keep bright 150w bulbs where I read.  I object to other mandates as well, low flush toilets don't work well but they wouldn't wait for someone to invent a good low flush before they required them in all new buildings.
