  1. Yes, just like any camera.  But there is no setting for it.  You have to take each shot yourself.  Use a tripod and start from the left or right side of your panoramic shot.  Each frame needs to over lap the next frame a little bit.  You will probably end up with anywhere from 10 to 30 shots.  Stitch them together in photoshop.

  2. Any camera can take panoramas. You could even use your phone (but the images would be of rather poor quality).

A panorama is simply several images stitched together at the ends so that they overlap. Then, they're blended together so that you have one large image.

    To take panoramas:

    - Set your camera up on a tripod that pans (you can easily rotate horizontally).

    - Take a series of images, making sure that each one overlaps by about 1/3.

    - Stitch them together with the Photomerge feature in Photoshop or with a program like ArcSoft Panorama Maker 4. Both of those programs do a great job of automatically alinging the images.

I use my D80 to make panoramas all the time! Have fun!

  3. Any camera can take panoramas. Although, if the camera can mount onto a tripod, it would make it a h**l of allot easier.

A panorama is an ammount of images put together (at the edges) so that they overlap each other. Than, you use a program (like photoshop) to put them all together.

The tripod needs to be able to rotate horizontally, without moving vertically. Take a series of images (usually 10-30), make sure each one overlaps the previous quite a bit (about 1/3 - 1/2 of the last picture).

You put (stitch) them all together with a feature in Photoshop, or with another program with this feature. My Canon Powershot came with software that could do this. Both programs do a great job too!

I use the D70 to take panoramas all the time!

  4. Don't forget to set your exposure manually when taking a series of photos for panoramic stitch.  Otherwise your exposures may be different from frame to frame and you will have a devil of a time making it all look right.  Alternately, you could make a panoramic crop from one picture.
