Can the ozone layer ever repair itself?

Australia i heard has already burned a hole through the ozone layer. Can it ever repair itself or form back to protect earth fgrom overheating??

  2. yes, but it takes a long long time.  It will have to balance out all the chemicals and what not that are pumped into the atmosphere to correct itself but at the rate the world is going with pollution, if we dont stop it wont be able to fix itself for very much longer

    Ozone is O3, and is produced when UV light reacts with Oxygen in the upper atmosphere.  It would take about 100 years for the ozone to return to the state it was in pre-Industrial revolution.  The ozone hole has already begun to heal itself, thanks to the reduction in CFC production.
