Can the personal finance section of yahoo help me better understand money?

Depending on what aspects of money do you wish to learn more about, there are various sources.

My favorite is Money Magazine.  It cover a wide range of topic, from basic personal finance, to real estate and investment.   Although, the magazine can sometime simplify a complex issue.  But in general it is easy to understand and helpful.

Yes, I think so. Many of the articles there are accurate and informative. But unfortunately many things "finance" are a matter of opinion. Therefore, it is best to get other sources of information such as this one http://money.cnn.com/pf/

You can also  talk to some financial professionals free of charge. You can discuss financial topics that pertain to your life with them. While some of these advisers do not charge you any money for an initial consultation, be careful that you don't fall prey to aggressive sales tactic.
