Can the phone company trace the origin of an "unknown caller" call I received?

They said they could not, but that seems a bit odd to me.

they can do it. But they wont.

the only case they will is if you have run a trace on the call (entered right after you hang up using *57) and then you have to get a warrant for that information.

Thats the only way.

yes, they can..but unless you're getting malicious threats, or anything else to that effect...they won't do it.

Hello, of course they can, but i want to believe the people has privacy rights as well, so at least by now, theres no the "real need" to track that call, unless its very important.
