Question:

Can the pill give you depression?

I recently changed pill brands (about a month ago) I was fine before that and now I'm so emotional and all over the place. Eg. Happy and bubbly then crying for no reason. This only started occurring after i changed. Is it worth going to the doctor to change brands?

  1. When you take the pill there are a number of side effects. Usually they are written on a small piece of paper given when you get your pill. Depression is a rare side affect, but it can happen. You should try switching pills or go to another form of birth control.

  2. Yes, depression is definitely a side effect when it comes to something that works on your hormones.  I haven't been able to take any birth control pill for very long before I would get depressed. Talk to your doctor about another brand or another bc method.
