Just wondering, because if you're flying faster than sound, surely you're getting away from it?

  1. cant anybody hear someone in a plane while it iz travelling and plz answer my question as well just wonder

  2. No, you cannot hear the sonic boom if you are moving along with the plane. The phenomenon occurs because you are standing outside of the plane's frame of reference when it goes by and what you are hearing is the compression of airwaves in front of a fast moving object.

  3. Straight out of the horse's mouth:

    Concorde pilot Peter Benn

"You don't actually hear anything on board. All we see is the pressure wave moving down the aeroplane - it gives an indication on the instruments. And that's what we see of Mach 1. But we don't hear the sonic boom or anything like that. That's rather like the wake of ship - it's behind us."

  4. No, they can't 'cause sonic booms can only b heard by da people who r not on tht plane means who r stationary.

  5. No they cannot. As you say, a sonic boom occurs when a plane goes thru the sound barrier, ie faster than mach 1. Therefore the plane is travelling faster than the sound waves it is creating, so it does not reach the passengers ears.

  6. Yes I believe they can.

  7. NO they cant untill sound catches up when they slow down
