Can the police release a minor to somebody besides the parent?

My friend's son got detained yesterday by Buena Park Police Department and they released him to somebody who is 18 but they she doesn't know who and he didn't come home last night. What can she do?

  1. Who ever came to pick him up would have to sign him out. They should be able to give that information to the parents.

    It is very irresponsible for the police to release a child to a noncustodial adult without permission.

    I believe they should be held accountable. His parents should report him missing and include the facts that he was released to someone else in the police report.
