Can the police trace illegal downloading on laptop?

i use ares but sometimes i take my laptop everywhere?what if my laptop is shut down?

  1. Yeah, but considering the hundreds of thousands upon millions of people doing it, it's not probable that they'd get you.

    Just don't burn cds for others, and don't pass the info around, and you'll be fine.

  5. It's traced using the IP address that your laptop uses when you download the illegal file. And (at least in the U.S. - you didn't state where you are located), the police don't track you down. The RIAA files a lawsuit against you, generally in the amount of $750 for each song.

  7. No Ares is fine do you see how many members are on that site. Hundreds of thousands and the number grows each day. I have been a member on that site for like 4 years now and I'm still free.
