I paid $1.69 for 2 stamps - that's $.845 each when that only cost $.42 at the post office. Is this legal?

  1. I have had a similar issue when it came to mailing packages at 3rd party affiliates like the UPS store, but I have never purchased stamps to test your theory.  My take is, I am sure its legal or else they wouldn't do it.  I don't think a convenience store is that stupid to mess with the Feds.

  2. Everything else is.  Why not stamps?

    That's a quite a mark-up.

The following is from the US Postal Service site....

"The U.S. Postal Service has no control over the pricing policy of private entrepreneurs. Since they must pay full price for the stamps they buy for resale, they may, of course, charge a higher price in order to earn a return on their investment of capital and effort.  Their prices are, no doubt, established on the basis of their needs and on economic market forces."
