Check your contract to be certain, but under most circumstances, I think they can.  This is why you have to be REALLY cautious about who you co-sign for.

Not usually. Co-signing a loan is accepting responsibility to make the payments if the other payor fails to do so. It does not imply ownership. Ultimately, it depends on how the title is worded. They cannot, however just take the car on a whim. They must follow due process or they are guilty of car theft.
