Can the quality of my video camera effect how well if picks up the green on my green screen?

I have this sheet which is a darker green even with allot of light on it, but i am buying a new proper green screen, but i was wondering whether it is my camera's fault for not picking up the green.

The quality of the camera may impact it some, but typically if you can get even lighting on any background, you can remove it by choosing the background color as the one you want to remove (although it's more likely you are limited by the software in such cases)
