  1. No they must obey the law.

They dont have to stop for the Police as they are the Royal Mail which is the Queens property.

  2. No! only if they think they are about to be robbed

  3. no definitely not - the emergency services are the only vehicles given dispensation when responding to an emergency

  4. dont be silly

  5. come on what do you think red means stop its not a sugestion or optional anybody crossing a red light is breaking the law... although you wouldnt think so cops sat at red lights waiting for them to change hardly ever get off their fat butts to chase down anybody who crosses on red,

even emergency vehicles are supposed to stop at red lights, when the go over them if theres an acident on red light its their fault.  no body is going to complain of course unless theres an acident

  6. They seem to think they can!

  7. Nope. Nor can the emergency services do it legally, it is done on the drivers own back and if it all goes wrong then the driver get the blame for running a red light just as you or I would..

  8. no, emergency services only, why?

  9. no way!!!

  10. Absolutely not - they must abide by the rules of the Highway Code.

  11. It's a well known fact that only fat men driving white vans are allowed to drive through red lights!

  12. No, anyone would think that they are in a hurry, that would point to a certain amount of competence instead of the inefficiency that they are known for !

  13. no, they' re supposed to obey traffic rules

  14. No they can not, legally anyway

  15. No, of course not.  I used to work for Royal Mail and sit in on disciplinaries.  Anyone reported to have been doing this would be in serious trouble.

  16. ONLY WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING RED VANS.

  17. No

  18. No, nobody is allowed to legally drive through a red light. As has been mentioned, not even emergency services vehicles, we just allow it and assist them as one day it may be us or our loved ones that need the emergency services to get somewhere quickly.

The only thing a royal mail vehicle can do is park pretty much anywhere. It's because it has the crown displayed on the vehicle (by royal appointment) that allows it. However if it was parked in a dangerous position, it could still be penalised.

  19. Of course not.  Mind you, having seen the way many of our local postmen drive, I think there must be a special Royal Mail School of Motoring.  (Sincere apologies to those postmen & women who actually obey speed limits, refrain from tailgating and have heard of give-way lines!  There must be some, somewhere . . .)

  20. No, only emergency vehicles can do that.

  21. Anyone can drive through a red light - but its not legal!

  22. I don't think so, same as everyone else.
