Can the tips of a fern be cut without damaging the plant

  1. It doesn't damage the plant, but every time I have done it on my Boston fern that one stalk dies, but it takes time because all of the leaves drop off first leaving the middle stem.  I don't like that look so now I just take the entire stem off by cutting it at the soil level.  PS I'm in zone 9.


  2. Yes, you can cut the tips. If you are having trouble with the tips browning just break them off half an inch below the brown.
