  1. The problem isn't the Wii specifically, the problem is non-moving video.  Any video that does not move for long periods can burn images into display devices.  The old CRT style video games used to have the score area burned into the screens.

    CRTs and Plasmas seem to be the most sensitive to this.  If you only play for an hour or so a day, you will probably be OK.  Plasmas have "image retention" where the gas cells get polarized.  This is not true image burn and will go away if moving pictures are put on the screen.  Many plasmas also have a "wipe" function to even out the charges on the cells.

    True image burn takes many, many hours of static video (I mean like days) and is caused by the gas cells wearing to the point they start getting dimmer than the surrounding cells.  This is not reversible.
