  1. Mostly likely NOT.  With Hank Steinbrenner already giving up on the season, there's no real pressure for the players to step up.  Plus, they keep bringing up prospects which is another sign of cashing it in.  But with those top six hitters in your lineup every day, anything is possible.

  2. I don't think they will.  They had a few good winning runs but I do not think they will catch the Rays or Red Sox

  3. yes the yankees will make the playoffs, they are only 5 games back from the red sox and i believe that they can catch them. I have no doubt in my mind that they will make the post season.

  4. Probably not because they are in third place and they are crashing & burning into fourth place. Red Sox got the wild card or the twins and Rays might win the division.

  5. Reality check.

The Yankees are seven games behind in the wild crd chase, with several teams ahead of them.

If a team loses sixty games, like someone else pointed out, they have won 102 games, not 92.  You guys need to learn a little math here.

They have not played like contenders, except for that first week out of the All Star break.

They are in trouble, but stranger things have happened.  1978, they came back from 14 1/2 down.  Red Sox four years ago were down 3-1 in the ALCS, the mets last year gave up 7 in 17 games....

All that being true, I don't see it happening.

Bandwagoners!  Get off now, avoid the late season rush.

  6. They're only about 3 game away from the WC I think

    So yes

  7. Of course they can, even if idoesnt look good. they always can surprise! :)

  8. No, they only play for the money and think they can just turn it on at will every season, so they will go down as the most expensive flop in sports history. Last season, they were playing much better at this point and barely made it to the playoffs to get crushed by the Indians.

  9. It's looking bad for them.  I'm hoping they will.  They're not that far from the Wild Card.  If they do make it to the playoffs, it'll be the Wild Card... And remember, the season ain't over yet... It's not over til' it's over.

They've made it for the past 16 years or something, and if they break the streak this year, Yankee fans will be pretty depressed.

EDIT: Go with Mr. Durden 20's answer.

  10. Doesn't look good.

  11. Never bet against the Yankees. Hank the Tank said they are looking to next season already, but he may have inadvertantly taken a lot of pressure off them, which could help a lot. There's a lot of season left to make up ground, and the Rays are getting killed by injuries (Longoria, Crawford, Percival). The Sox lost Manny. So as much as I can't stand the evil empire, I'll say it again; Never bet against the Yankees.

  12. Mathematically they can still make the post season, but personally I don't think they have it in them. To many injuries, sub par pitching, and medicare hitting.

  13. They can only lose 12 more games to win 92 which I think will be very competitive for the Wild Card.  Everyone loses 60 games...  It is what you do with the rest.  Tampa has some to lose and so do the Red Sox.  The Yanks can still make the playoffs and I wouldn't count them out just yet.  They have been in this situation before...

Thanks, DJ Jr.  it is 13 seasons in a row btw...

It isn't a collapse if the Ray or the Sox lose 60 games, which they will!! It will be an amazing winning streak if/when the Yankees win 90 + games.  In today's game is imperative to making the playoffs...  Unless you play in the NL West!!!

I am not claiming they will, I am saying exactly what you did.  They would have to do so to compete!  It is a stretch, but not impossible... Not crazy either... They can win every 7 games out of 10 and end the season with a record of 28 - 12.  Meaning they just have to win series...

Bill, My point about losing sixty games was for the teams that are ahead like the Red Sox and Rays.  I wasn't calculating 60 + 92 = 162.  @ss...  I was simply saying the Rays and Sox have games to lose and the Yanks still can catch'em...

  14. No.

To claim they will win 92 games is crazy too.  They need to go 28-12 in their last 40 games to win 92.  Meanwhile, the Red Sox only have to go 22 - 18 to finish one game ahead of the Yankees.

Yankees are finished.  If I were them I'd worry about finishing the season in 3rd.  Jays and O's are better teams right now.

  15. No way no how.

  16. How many times are different people going to ask this stupid question on here?

Until the Yankees are mathematically out(not close to it) they are still in the race. The Rays can start losing since their injury list is expanding. The RedSox miss Manny, their pitching is not as good as last year. So even the wildcard is obtainable. Get it yet? Haters.

  17. idk but there 7 games behind the wild card and it does not look like the rays or red sox would make a big collapse like that. so i doubt it.
