  1. as my mom and dad used to say:  every day is Child's Day.

  2. Some adoptees celebrate their adoption day as well as their birth day.  Locally, there is an annual Adoption Day celebration due to not only the large number of international adoptions here, but also the large number of foster care adoptions.

  3. November is traditionally National Adoption Awareness Month.  You can learn more about it here:

  4. i hope not.

  5. There is! Not only one day but a Whole Month... It is Called Novemeber or National Adoption Awareness Month.... It was started to promote awarness about children waiting in the US Foster Care System.... National ADOPTION day is usually between the 17 or the 25thish....

Melissa G-- Don't let the Thumbs Down bother you.... Apparently the Anti-Adoption people who CLAIM they support Foster Child Adoptions Still SEEM to think that National Adoption Awareness Month INCLUDES all kinds of adoption.... I sure wish people would Stop Hijacking the Month and thinking it is all about private--or infant or even International Adoption Because it really isn't! It is actually all about the Waiting Children... It is supposed to be the ONE TIME we TRY and remind the public about these children... But no--too many other's connected to adoption seem to not know the real history and think it is about them.... Oh well... It isn't.... It isn't about Anyone else except Waiting Children.... I will be back to Post a link to some of the History of the REAL REASON we have National Adoption Awareness Month....

    History of National Adoption Day

National Adoption Day 2007 builds on incredible efforts over the last eight years by The Alliance for Children's Rights through the generous support of the Freddie Mac Foundation, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and others. In November 2000, National Adoption Day sponsors worked with law firms, foster care departments, child advocates, and courts to complete hundreds of foster care adoptions in nine jurisdictions across the country. In just seven years National Adoption Day has truly grown into a national celebration, with 3,300 adoptions finalized in 2006 as part of 250 events in 50 states and the District of Columbia.

November is National Adoption Month – Let’s Celebrate!

    Making history together…

In 1976, Michael Dukakis, the governor of Massachusetts, declared an Adoption Week for his state. Later that same year, President Gerald Ford proclaimed that Adoption Week would be celebrated nationally. As more and more states started to participate in Adoption Week, it eventually evolved into National Adoption Month.

National Adoption Month is celebrated during the month of November. The celebration highlights National Adoption Day with courthouses throughout the nation participating, and hundreds of adoptions being finalized simultaneously. It is also a time to bring awareness to our communities about the thousands of children in foster care awaiting adoptive families.

***Sorry but this Month really Is NOT about any other adoption issue other than the Waiting Children and It never has been.... Period... It is Not about Celebrating Adoption it is about and for the waiting kids... Anyone else who JUMPS on and makes it something else is just Jumping on and making it something else.... Just how it is....
