Can there be a draw in the 6 nations rugby?

I am convinced there can be draws, but this lady at work tells me that they can't draw.

If I'm right, how many draws have there been?

Yes, there can.

Since the start of the 6 nations in 2000, there have been two draws - Scotland v Wales (28-28) in 2002 and Wales v Italy (18-18) last year.

They can draw in a league based tournament like the six nations and there have been a few draws over the years.....if they draw in the latter stages of the world cup I think they decide it on a penalty shoot out......it's never happened though....I don't think !

It can be drawn but very unlikely, two teams would have to have the same amount of accumulated match points, the same amount of points for and against, as follows;

1. The RBS 6 Nations Championship is contested each season over seven weekends during February, March and sometimes April by the international sides of France England, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

2. Each team plays the other five once per season with home advantage in alternate seasons (eg England hosted France in 2003, and so France host England in 2004), giving a total of 15 matches per Championship.

3. The RBS 6 Nations Championship Trophy is presented to the team who earn the most points during the season, with 2 points being awarded for a win, and 1 point for a drawn match.

If two or more teams finish the Championship with the same number points, the winner is decided on match-points difference (subtracting match-points 'against' from match-points 'for' in all Championship matches). If there is still no winner, then it is awarded to the team who scored the most tries during the Championship.

If after all this a winner still cannot be decided then the Championship is shared between the teams.

The six nations tournament certainly has never been drawn (it only became 6 nations when Italy joined in 2000) and I think you will find that the 5 nations wasn't either, if you go right back to the start of the tournament tables weren't even officially kept it was left to the media to calculate who came in at what position.

That is assuming you meant can the 6 nations tournament be drawn, individual matches within the tournament can obviously be drawn.

yes, a draw is possible, italy drew with wales last year. one point is awarded for a draw

Yes in matches and yes at the top of the table.

However it would be very rare to have a draw at the top, it would be points, score differance and finally tries scored, if there is a draw after that it will be a first for the chamiponship as far as I know.
