  1. i think curlin will! u must see that horse run! i mean if he don't win like the kentucky derby, then i don't think ANY other horse has wut it takes except him. he has shown us everything he has and he'll prove it in just 2 more weeks!

  2. I am 85% sure that there will be a Triple Crown winner this year. Curlin has shown us all how great he is and how far he will go to earn his spot. So get ready to have a Crown winner because I think this is finally the year!

    RIP Barbaro

  3. Can there?  Sure.  Will there?  No.  There is talent out there, its just that many owners are skipping the Kentucky Derby because of the large fields and unpredictability of the pace.

I hate the derby, always have.  Limit the field to 12 and the true talent will come out.

  4. A Triple Crown winner doesn't always have to do with talent.  Sir Barton, Omaha, Assault and the closest near miss Real Quiet prove that it is often being the best of an average or mediocre bunch that gives you the best shot.  This year's group seems like a solid bunch with no real standout - but then last year at this time Barbaro really hadn't separated himself from the pack, it was the Derby that was his break-out race.  So it is possible that a horse like Street Sense, Nobiz Like Shobiz, Curlin, Dominican etc. will step up in a big way on May 5th.  But really there will always be the possibility of a Triple Crown winner, at least until the Preakness results are official ;)

Interestingly there are three very talented current runners with Triple Crown ties overseas.  Invasor (winner of the Uruguayan Triple Crown) is the best horse in the world right now.  Asiatic Boy won the UAE Triple Crown impressively this spring.  And in England, Teofilo has been praised as the next Nijinsky and the first horse in a very long time to contend for that country's Triple Crown.

  5. boxing, im not so sure, but horseracing is going down the tubes...and its because the fan base is not getting younger, the younger generation has not embraced horse racing (meaning going to the track and betting on a regular basis)and the only thing that may help it to survive on a large scale is slot machines or other action so gamblers of all sorts can help support the facilities which now get less live patrons than ever, for one , because you can bet most tracks from satellite stations which are all over and dont require you to drive far, be in a crowd, hassle in traffic etc...recently spent a day at Santa Anita having lunch in the restaurant over the finish line and while that was nice, it was kind of a hassle not having a lot of machines close to bet or having screens easily available to check other results and races at the other tracks that were running...now as for talent, few times in recent history (and im talking 30 years or so) has a horse made a statement of greatness that would make a lifetime memory...more often these horses are bred for and trained for speed than stamina, so its refreshing to see a horse like Invasor, who is a freight train late in his races...as for boxing, boxing is ok, just no big undisputed heavyweight champion to identify with (which for some reason the really non boxing following public identifies with there being no talent in boxing in general) on may 5th the biggest fight in boxing for the last few years goes down and there should be lots of interest in that...then sadly , no other 'big' fights on the horizon unless they make it close and suck the public into buying one or two more fights with them ringing our pockets dry...(oh and to answer the question, I think there can be a TC winner because there will be 2 or 3 horses that stand out above all the rest of what looks to be a very average 3 year old crop of contenders)
