  1. i live in los angeles and with global warming a crazy weather i have definately seen it.

thunder and lightening are a result of large storm clouds crashing into one another causing friction. Thus resulting in a loud bang (thunder) and electricty by friction (lightening)

  2. I've seen/heard of something called "heat lightning", but it's usually not accompanied by thunder.

  3. Where I live we have a lot of electrical storms, i.e. there is a lot of thunder and lightning without rain.

A thunderstorm, also called an electrical storm, lightning storm or t-storm, is a form of weather characterized by the presence of lightning and its attendant thunder.

  4. Yeah I've experienced that without any rain.
