He has been acting really strange. He is normally a good guy, but he has been acting very cruel. Can morphine and/or Perkoset (sp) affect his mood? He seems so bitter and angry.

He was in hospital for an operation and I know that's a lot to go through, but I feel like he is possessed by a mean demon. Pain can do that to you but I was wondering if its the narcotics given to him that may have an effect.

  1. both can and often do cause more agrression. the trade off is they kill pain and cause mild euphoria. i glad you relise pain can change people. it can and does. with love and understanding we come back around to our old selves, even kinder and gentler than before. too freekin bad my S****y ho of and ex did not stick it out with me after breaking 5 vertabrea aand crushing my skull. maybe i wouldn't be such an angry bitter, lonely old drunk!!!

  2. YES! very much so, my mom had a surgery, and she acted like a completely different person for at least a week.

    just be patient,

also keep an eye on it, and ask the dr, it could be a bad reaction as well, and you would nt want taht .

  3. Even the anesthesia can make him moody. Once it totally gets out of his system he might be in a better frame of mind.

  4. They should make him drowsy.  Anything though is possible with any medication.  He may also be in pain and/or depressed from the surgery as well.

I would call a pharmacy and ask them the two meds are causing his moodiness

  5. What is more likely is that he is suffering from a major depressive episode.  It is very difficult to deal with illness.  Try to get him to a psychiatrist to see if he is depressed.
