Can they make lens for rimless frames high index?

is it possible to have thinner lenses for drill mounted rimless frames? what are they called?

  1. It depends on how thick your lenses are to begin with. Some very near sighted prescriptions can be made thinner with alternate materials, but will still have certain thickness to them. If you are self conscious about your lenses it may still be cosmetically unappealing to you. Select the smallest frame that suits your face and that will help.

    Trivex is a newer material that is good for drill mounts, but depends on the type of lens you need. No problem for single vision, but limited in progressive lenses. It is thin and light and very impact resistant.

    Polycarbonate is also very impact resistant, but can develop cracks around the drill holes over time, where Trivex doesn't.  Traditional hi-index lenses are made of polyurethane and can be broken much more easily,especially with no supporting frame around it.
