Question:

Can they numb the area that you are getting tattooed?

Like when the dentist gives you an injection to numb one area of your mouth when you're getting a filling?

Can they do that when you get a tattoo? Or do they generally not do it?

Thanks xx

  1. I understand there is a cream they can rub on larger areas (not outlines) that numbs the skin, but most artists don't like to use it.  However, the trade off for the pain is having a great tattoo for a lifetime.  If you aren't willing to suffer to get it, then maybe it isn't something you want badly enough to go through with?

  2. Aw, come on. Suck it up! Take it like a man (or woman).

  3. No. they dont numb it.

If youve never gotten a tatto before (which im assuming)

depending on where you get it... it not bad, to some people it feels like a tickle that you can stop....its not bad at all....

if your getting it in a spot that is boney...like your rib cage, foot, hips or spine it will hurt more because there isnt as much skin over the bone...

but they wont numb it, they'll probably laugh at you if you asked.

    just go for it.

    good luck.

  4. Nope, you got to grin and bare it like everyone else...Its like a right of passage lol

  5. Yes they do have a topical cream that you can put on, but most artists do not carry it.  I would highly suggest against it, because once it wears off the pain will be worse then it would have if you would have never done it.  And as one of the other posters said, IF your artist carries the cream, they would only use it if you were getting a LARGE piece.  Mine is on one of the most supposedly tender areas(ribs all the way to my hip), and parts of it hurt like no other, and parts of it I could've slept through if it weren't for the loud buzzing.

  6. No. they dont numb it.

It doesnt hurt that bad. After awhile your endorphins kick in and basically numb it for you anyway.

  7. wow if you want a tattoo, you should earn it and go through the pain like everyone else.

    they dont numb you.

  8. they don't do that..you have to withstand it.

  9. no

and i dont suggest getting drunk before getting work done as alcohol thins out your blood and can actually make it more painful.

    there not bad just irritating

i have work done on my ribs and its not bad
