ok my sister in law, Angela, is 17 and in high school. she has asthma and every year she has to get a note from the doctor saying that she needs to have limited PE exercise. this year the school said that the note doesn't have a reason on it so they cannot take it and the school called the doctor and talked to him, about what i have no clue but my mother in law believes they talked the doctor into excusing the note and having Angela return to PE.

they have done this every year so why can't they get with the program?

they went back to the doctor and he won't give Angela a note anymore. what can we do? we don't want Angela to get hurt even though if she does we can sue the h**l out of the doctor and the school but she might get seriously hurt.

any suggestions?

  1. It sounds like there's something going on that you're not aware of.  What could the school have said to the doctor that he won't give her a note anymore?  I'm stumped and really curious.  Whatever the answer, it doesn't seem right.  I would ask a different doctor about the situation and if he'd write her a note.

I had friends in PE who had asthma. Sometimes they stayed after school to make up certain things, like it was required to jog a mile.  It is possible for someone with asthma to be athletic.  Maybe the school thinks Angela uses her asthma as an excuse, but you seem to think it's a valid reason and you're her sister so I trust your judgment.  Is she otherwise healthy and fit?  If not, maybe your mom (her mom?) can talk to the gym teacher and ask how she can participate without aggravating her asthma.  Good luck!
