Question:

Can they really sue me for this

A boy who has threatened to sue me or file some type of legal action against me.

What happened:

Him and his friend were members of a forum that I was also a member of, he was not liked because he spammed the the forums with insults and slurs. I told his friend on MSN that they were not wanted in the forum any longer because of how they act. I did not back the statement up with evidence.

He (the kid I said this statement to) posted part of that conversation on the Forum which was against the rule and he got banned. His friend that claims he will sue me, messaged me on MSN and told me his father was a lawyer and he would sue me.

A week later (today) He messages me again and says if I don't make a public apology on the forum I will be sued. I spoke to a moderator from the forum and said I can't do that because this fight is taken place off the forum. This boy now said his father was a cop (he said he was a lawyer early, remember) and he got my IP address and I would be in trouble. He says that I am being sued for discrimination for telling his friend that they are no longer welcomed on the forum.

What should I do, I blocked the both of them on MSN, and the forum moderators banned the both of them from the site.

  1. Ignore them.

Cal their little boy bluffs and they will slink away unnoticed.

  2. Don't worry about it. They can't sue you. In order to sue someone, the "victim" needs to have suffered some sort of damages that the court case could somehow remedy. Obviously his "lawyer/cop" father has no idea what he's talking about.

  3. Ignore them. Nothing they said about suing you is even close to accurate. They don't understand the law.

  4. DON'T FEED THE TROLLS! That's all they are. They are only trying to stir up trouble, and are making no real contributions. Just ignore them. Block them on the forum (and any other ID's they create and start bothering you with), and add their email address to your junk email filter.

  5. Well if you have them blocked just make sure you block any more names they may dream up to bother you. They can't sue you for telling them they aren't welcome.

Actually if you really want to have fun, next name they dream up have him ask his daddy about Harassment, and how he is violating the laws against it. Any good lawyer/cop/FBI agent/Spy(figured I'd dream up some more jobs for his daddy) would know what he was doing wrong.

  6. Ignore button. Hot air waste of time

  7. tell him that your dad is a cop as well and he will be arrested for threatening you haha

    nah really ignore

  8. The question is not "could they sue you?", because anybody can sue anyone for anything. The question is, "could they win?". The answer is no. They could still try and cause you much annoyance though. They sound like they are blowing a lot of hot air though.

  9. this is a childish scare tactic. You cannot be sued over this. Explain that you went to your parents who took to the police station and said online harrassment is chargeable and that it's him who can face trouble if he is not careful.

Blocking him was the best thing you could do. Ignore him. There's no way you'll be in trouble. Next time when someone spams you, forward it on to the moderator and ask if this is acceptable. If he is sending email, send it to the moderator and ask if it's acceptable. You might be surprised. they might also not want to hear it.

In any group, if you are not the moderator, you don't hold the authority to kick someone out. IT's why you should send items to the moderator instead. K?

What you should do is work to quickly forget their existance and realize that people lie like crazy. They were one of those liars. People who do what you claim love to lie and feel they can get away with it. Forget them, go on wiht your life. Have fun in your forum.

  10. He's full of it.

He would have to go to a huge expense to do this,  First of all, he has to get your home address, file the suit (imagine getting a lawyer for that) in YOUR jurisdiction and then, he would have to prove real damages done by you and only you.

He's just some stupid kid, angry at not getting his way.
