If someone at a school (staff) tells the counsellor about problems you are having, if that member of staff then leaves the school. But you keep in touch, can they still tell the school if you let them know of a problem you are having. Do they stll haev a right to let the previous school know or is it something they have no right to tell anyone unless you give them permission to? Sorry if it's a bit confusing or in the wrong category (or both, lol)

  1. It depends on where you are, how old you are, and what the problem is.  For instance, if you or someone else is being placed in danger, the teacher has the responsibility to let someone know that can do something to help.

  2. That person would have a duty to do so.

In fact the person would be very unwise to still have contact with a pupil after the pupil had left their school.

  3. It would be better if they tell your parents or, if it's serious enough, the police. I don't think there's anything stopping them from telling your guidance counselor but, because of privacy laws, the counselor couldn't really discuss anything with them.

  4. There is no law barring staff members form disclosing information even when they are still at the school. A lot of teachers don't because then students won't tell them things. There are certain things, however, that they are required, by law, to tell. If students are being abused, a teacher is obligated to tell someone in authority.
