Can they tell if songs are illegally downloaded by looking at your ipod?

Question

I have a few songs on my ipod that were downloaded from limewire, and I would like to take my ipod on a flight im taking tomorrow. Is there anyway they can tell some songs were illegally downloaded, and confiscate/fine me when I go through customs?

Or should I just leave it at home?

no because downloading songs must come from your pc and only when you have your pc, preferrably desktop, it could be possible that you would get in big trouble.  But I think it would be okay for you to bring your ipod.

If they see in cover flow you don't have any album art work they would know that you downloaded illegally !!!!!

First- they wouldn't check, that isn't what they're there for and if it were that would take even LONGER to get through an airport if they checked everyone's ipod

Second- no, they can't tell without seeing your computer

Third- (this is mostly a reply to one of the answerers) Just because there is no album art doesn't mean it's illegal. I have some totally legal from-the-CD-songs that have no album art. Some just aren't in the ipod database. Also, there ARE legal downloading sites, such as walmart.com, that don't include album art.

i dont think there is a way to tell if they were illegally downloaded, unless they hook it up to a computer to view the file type, and even then it will just come up as a Mp3 file.

not from an ipod no and besides i doubt they're really gonna look at what songs u have in there

Just don't name the playlist titles as Limewire, because I sometimes use it and it automatically creates a playlist named Limewire. But other than that, you're good! And if someone asks why you don't have the album artwork, just say you downloaded it from a mix cd your friend made for you! And no, they won't know you download illegal music when they check through it. Like put it through that little conveyer belt. Haha sorry, I forget what's its called. Hope I helped :)
