Can this be a solution to avoid RROD?

Question

Ok everybody....I'll be receiving my Xbox360 in a month or so as gift....

There seems to be an issue with an Xbox360 that is the RROD [Red Ring Of Death] ..... In most cases it the overheating issue ..... (won't go into detail) .....

There are no pets in my house nor there is much dust generated....

I also don't mind voiding my warranty so can I just keep the console fully open (i.e. Taking out the covers/flaps/hinges etc that is cover the console) so that it runs more cool for long...... I've done that to my desktop Cabinet and it helps my desktop runs much more faster & cooler.....

So all I wanted to know is that will it help if I do the same to the console?

well ive got my 360 sitting on a shelf underneath my tv, and it hasnt put a foot wrong...yet. so i wouldnt worry about the overheating problem that much. Besides, if u do get a rrod microsoft will repair it for free and give u and extended warrenty. My mate got 3 red lights and since it was 3 lights it was repaired for free. 9 out of 10 times if its an overheating problem 3 lights will flash and so u can get free repair.

DO NOT BUY AN INTERCOOLER.

The intercooler is not a safe or effective device.  The intercooler draws power from your xbox and sits tightly against it generating more heat itself.  There have actually been cases of Intercoolers burning, melting and fusing to the XBOX due to the heat.  intercooler's also void the warranty.

New XBOX's built have cooler running chips and have much lower rates of RRoD.I think your best bet is to not void your warranty at all and just keep your XBOX in an open well ventilated area, keep it dust free(compressed air) and keep it off carpet etc..

Every XBOX has a 3 year warranty that completely coveres RRoD and a 1 year warranty for everything else.  If you void your warranty and end up with RRoD you are completely screwed.  

However, if you keep your warranty and end up with RRoD you get a new console for free.

dont do it there is a 3 year warrenty with microsoft for the RROD so theres no point mine went a month ago the motherboared and disc drive went so i phoned microsoft and they got UPS to pick it up and cuz i live in the UK they took it to Germany they fixed it in bout 6 days and it took 3 days to get back from Germany

yeah is would work but i say get a laptop chill mat. i have been using one on my 360 for 3 month now and ever since then i have not seen the rrod on it

just pay 20 bucks and buy the inter-cooler ex for it and save your warranty and red rings of death doesn't seem to be a problem anymore i have a 360 and played it for fifteen hours straight with no problems

The RRoD can indicate more than an overheating issue. It's a general hardware failure which can me a number of things and it's not worth voiding your warranty to prevent overheating. Do NOT buy the Intercooler as it draws it's power from the 360 itself and is known to cause overheating. Also it leaves scorch marks which will void your warranty with MS. My advice is to just use it normally and if you happen to get the RRoD, send it in to get it fixed or have it replaced.
