  1. using MJ is not necessarily a DQ.  LYING about having used it IS.

  2. You still need to tell your recruiter. He or she will then decide whether or not it needs to go onto your enlistment papers. All the branches have a limit on the use of marijuana as "experimental" and they won't penalize you for it.

  3. The US military takes a dim view of drug use, and it will not be tolerated of you as a member of our armed forces.  But, if you pass the drug test given before entrance, they will usually let you in.  The military does not exist in a vacuum, and they know that many young people experiment with drugs at some point in their lives---the question is, WHICH drugs.  When you go to Military Entrance and Processing Station (MEPS) after your recruiter signs you up, they are going to give you a physical.  Part of that physical will be to strip down to your underwear and hold out your arms, palms up.  This is so that a doctor can look over your body and see if there are needle marks or the "tracks" associated with intravenous drug use.  If he observes any sign of this, no matter how long ago you stopped shooting drugs, you will not be allowed into the military.  But, as far as marijuana, if it is not in your system when they give you the drug test, you will be okay.  I remember when I was in basic training.  The very first day there, the drill sergeants came around with a piece of paper and asked us to fill in any drugs we had used, and ordered us not to lie.  I put down that I had experimented with marijuana before.  I was in the Army for years after that, and I never heard anything about that ever again.

Listen, you don't really have t tell your recruiter about the marijuana use.  But I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut that you'll get in anyway if you do, as long as you pass that drug test.

  4. You would be best off telling the truth about it. You may get a job that needs a security clearance and when they go interview people from your past someone may say something.

  5. I really doubt it would affect anything if you didnt say anything. i think it only lasts for 6 months in your hair. and when you apply for jobs it says if its more than 2 years old not to list it. so i dont think i would bring it up. we all make mistakes

  6. No,it would be wise to keep it to yourself if marijiana is the only drug you`ve used during out the years. Some countries don`t forbid the substance so in my view it should be considered seprately from normal drugs.May depend on personality but there are some recruiters out there who doesn`t really focus on every inch of your body to find signs of drug abuse that took place years ago.

After all,it`s the "recruiting" office isn`t it?

  7. It won't effect your enlistment even if you're honest about it.
